About Me

Hi! I'm Lianne. I am a Software Engineer with experience in full-stack development using JavaScript, Ruby on Rails, React, and PostgreSQL. I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Providence College with a degree in Computer Science, completed my MS requirements at NYIT, and am now pursuing my MS in Computer Science at Cornell Tech with a focus on health tech innovation. I’ve worked at Mitchells Family Stores, where I built sales and e-commerce features, and at Artemis Ag, where I developed crop management tools in Rails and React. My background also includes bioinformatics research, where I co-authored a manuscript on comparative spatial genomics. I’m passionate about applying technology to improve healthcare and create impactful digital solutions.

Projects

OpenPlaybill

Pixel perfect clone of the dining and reservation website OpenTable with a broadway theme.

  • Designed Rails backend search feature for Broadway shows that allowed filtering by category without additional database queries using the pg-search gem.
  • Adapted Redux’s unidirectional state management to increase speed of search result page and eliminate the need to render a new page.

Fit Challenger

Fitness website for users to take on fitness challenges and challenge others.

  • Leveraged Express Router to separate different challenge resources and create routes for CRUD actions with challenges and user challenges to expand and improve user experience.
  • Incorporated Mongoose to construct schema models for challenges, and group challenges by assigning intuitive and flexible data types to reflect the polymorphic association between users and challenges.

Is It Over Yet?

Front end site which dynamically displays Covid-19 data in the form of bar charts.

  • Employed external API to provide statistics by sending XMLHttp Get Requests to the Covid-19 API and parse the information for incorporation into bar graphs.
  • Created a MouseOver function with transition to the DOM for when a bar is hovered on, it is assigned an additional class for css and is given a new width and height for proportional growth.

Experience

Graduate Student – MS Computer Science

Sept 2024 – May 2025
New York Institute of Technology (NYIT)

Completed the core requirements of the MS Computer Science program, including coursework in:

  • CSCI 610 – Theoretical Concepts in Computers and Computation
  • CSCI 641 – Computer Architecture I
  • CSCI 651 – Algorithm Concepts
  • CSCI 620 – Operating System Security
  • CSCI 621 – Programming Languages
  • CSCI 755 – Artificial Intelligence I
Built a strong foundation in algorithms, computer architecture, operating systems, and AI. Did not complete thesis and electives, but successfully advanced to Cornell Tech to continue MS studies.

Software Developer

Dec 2021 - Sept 2024
Mitchells Stores

  • Spearheaded creation of new data model in order to convert old store hour static pages to dynamic pages and add employee store hour interface.
  • Added to Spree Commerce via building new API endpoints, decorating classes, and building the corresponding mobile pages for employee customer appointments.
  • Utilized the UPS API in order to retrieve return labels and corresponding package info.
  • Used Solr to implement new filtering and search options in customer wish lists and on the customer facing product page.
  • Used JS to create an interactive product stock location map and corresponding dynamic table.

Software Developer

Sept 2020 - Sept 2021
Artemis Ag

  • Worked in small teams to develop crop management features including functionality to allow users to move and discard crops, converting old Rails zone index and show pages to React, and improving global search.
  • Increased customer satisfaction by implementing a duplication and editing feature for commonly used crop templates.
  • Collaborated with the backend developers at Artemis to add additional data to multiple tables via Ruby migrations.
  • Improved the mobile app's crop page’s navigation and tasks list by making it easier to find and add details to tasks.

Biology Research Lab Assistant

May 2018 - Aug 2019
Providence College & Fordham University

  • Utilized the terminal, bash, Bioinformatics software Stacks & Populations and Rstudio to sequence and graph over 1M genomes in over 10000 unique rat DNA samples.
  • Implemented multiple bash loops to create a template for processing genomic data resulting in a 70% increase in processing efficiency and speed.
  • Constructed a detailed guide as to how to use Bioinformatics software with code templates and explicit instructions for those who do not have a coding/technical background.
  • Co-authored Evolutionary Applications Manuscript on the comparative spatial genomics between mice and bats.
